One of the things that drove my attention when I came to live in the Netherlands was architecture.  Quite different from my country, this place seems to reflect identity through the way houses are built. I learned about rijtjeshuis and bovenwoning (I live in one of these!). Architecture shapes a city, but who defines it? What are the stories behind those bricked walls that reproduce once and again? Reading about architecture in the Netherlands, brand-new research caught me. It was about women in Dutch architecture history.

Feel together with your family, even from a distance

The holiday season is a time we all look forward to being together. It is a time to reconnect, spend some time enjoying each other’s company, and perhaps forget about the realities of the world. For many families in the Delft MaMa community, however, this will be the second season spent apart due to the constraints of the pandemic. Learning Dutch in Delft: 2021 Update

Members of Delft MaMa have expressed that Marie Kummerlowe’s 2017 comprehensive article about resources for Learning Dutch in Delft should be updated and reposted every once in a while, so here is the 2021 updated version. “There are always new people coming in, and many struggle with the same basic questions, among which is learning the language, she wrote.
