2023 National reading days – international storytime

  • by

From 25 January to 4 February 2023, De Nationale Voorleesdagen (National Reading Days) are celebrated in the Netherlands. Delft Mama has teamed up with DOK Library Delft to offer an International Storytime as part of this event.

READING IS FUNDAMENTAL!

Join us on: THURSDAY 26 JANUARY 2023, 1030-1100

Find us in the “Torteltuin” section upstairs at the DOK Delft Central Library, 100 Vesteplein, Delft.

Mothers, fathers, carers of babies and young children all welcome. We’d love members of our community to read a children’s story in either English or another foreign language. There are over 500 foreign language children’s books at DOK, or bring your own family’s favourite to read.

See you there! You can stay on afterwards to explore the library, have a coffee or tea in the cafe and borrow some books.

There is also an event the same evening for parents about using baby sign language. Though this is held in Dutch, you should still be able to follow if you are not completely fluent. Preregistering is required for this event.

Several other events are available both as part of the National Reading Days as well as regularly for both children and adults, visit the agenda. Though the majority of these are in the Dutch language, our community is still most welcome and encouraged to attend.

REGULAR INTERNATIONAL STORYTIME?

We hope to make this a more regular event at DOK, so speak to us on the 26th if you’d like to be part of this. Or if you can’t be there on the 26th, but would still like to be involved, please contact us.

FREE CHILDREN’S library MEMBERSHIP

Did you know that a youth subscription is free at DOK? Children up to 17 can borrow books, magazines, e-books and audio books for free up to and including their 17th birthday. For more information (also in English) visit the DOK Delft Library website.
